Dear Mr. Handy,
I am very enthusiastic to see the first-grade Dual Language job opening at Bliss Elementary school. I saw the job opening at El Paso Independent School District website. I am confident of being well qualified for this position and I want to expressed my interest for working in your school, to demonstrate my skills and wisdom I have obtain through the years.
I am a senior student at the University of Texas at El Paso working on my Bachelor’s Degree in Bilingual Education EC-6. I have gained experience from working with students and observing great teachers from pre-kindergarten to high school and, worked with students with special needs. My love for this profession and my desires for helping others have encourage me to volunteer in diverse schools and organizations.
I have volunteer for many years at a local church serving a teacher, this experience helped me gain class managements skills as well as working with English speaking students as well as Spanish speaking students and with students with special needs. I am also, currently volunteering in Gigi’s Playhouse as a literacy tutor, in which our mission is to help children and adults with down syndrome to gain, developed, and improve their reading skills. This experience has help me gain different teaching approaches in which literacy can be taught.
Currently in school I, have had the opportunity to work with diverse students, in which I have learn the importance of inclusion in the classrooms. Learning from my observations I know the importance of making accommodations needed so that diverse students feel comfortable in a positive and safe environment. Integrating culture in my classroom so that children can feel proud of where they come.
Parent involvement is a priory for me, I have observed that if a parent is part of the education of their child, the student will show their full learning potential. Therefore, I must establish good communication with parents to have their support motivate for the benefit of their children.
As a Mexican-American and English as my second language I have known the struggle that diverse students have when learning a second language. Dual language program offers an opportunity for students to learn content area in both languages simultaneously using Cross language strategies. Those diverse students that will learn English as a second language will have the opportunity to learn it applying their knowledge in Spanish, in a comfort zone.
I would welcome and interview from you to share my experience and knowledge I have gained in my path of becoming a teacher, and would like to learn from your skills and applied them with the students. I hope to hear from you soon hopping that you have seen my resume. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Denisse Lopez
